Cb Radio Noise Filter

  • Noise reduction is the process of removing noise from a signal. Noise reduction techniques are conceptually very similar regardless of the signal being processed, however a priori knowledge of the characteristics of an expected signal can mean the implementations of these techniques vary greatly

  • (Noise Filtering) Cleaning the signal (AC) from any interference.

    cb radio
  • Citizens' Band radio (often shortened to CB radio) is, in many countries, a system of short-distance radio communications between individuals on a selection of 40 channels within the 27-MHz (11 m) band. The CB radio service is distinct from FRS, GMRS, MURS, or amateur ("ham") radio.

  • Citizens Band radio is a general use, short distance, two-way radio primarily used by truckers. CB's are also helpful to RV drivers to call for help in an emergency and listen for driving conditions. Many CB's on the market today also have weather channels with alerting features.

cb radio noise filter - Icom IC-M504

Icom IC-M504 Fixed-Mount Marine VHF Radio (Grey)

Icom IC-M504 Fixed-Mount Marine VHF Radio (Grey)

Gray radio with a very large LCD with full dot matrix and huge control knob, Class D DSC built in with second, independent receiver, rear connection of the microphone possible, improved bass dynamics for better audio quality, IPX-8 waterproof construction, 25 watt hailer and full fog horn function, speaker microphone, rotating mounting bracket with matching knobs and DC power cord

Built tough to withstand the punishing marine environment, the Icom IC-M504 fixed-mount VHF radio is a must for safety-minded boaters. The high-quality radio is outfitted with a host of valuable features, including a full 168-character dot-matrix LCD display with a seven-step dimmer, an intuitive, easy-to-use front panel, and a rugged waterproof housing that's submersible in 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes. More significantly, the radio works with all 57 U.S., 61 Canadian, and 57 international channels, along with 10 weather channels from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA). The VHF channels offer an ideal way to communicate with other boaters--whether exchanging information on a hot fishing spot or sending out a distress signal--while the NOAA channels notify you when inclement weather is approaching.
The radio's receiver is no slouch from a performance perspective, with excellent specifications of 80 dB (typical) for intermodulation rejection, adjacent channel selectivity, and 0.22 uV (typical) high sensitivity. The result is a receiver that's powerful enough to catch a weak signal even between two strong signals, making it much less likely that you'll miss important transmissions. The extra-large speaker, meanwhile, is mounted into a well-spaced housing that delivers a bigger sound than the specified 4.5 watts of output power. As a result, both casual messages and urgent distress calls come through loud and clear even when the engine is roaring.
The IC-M504 offers several scanning modes, including an auto scan function that starts scanning whenever no signal is detected, a traditional scan mode that searches through all the tag channels in sequence, a priority scan mode that does the same but also monitors the distress channel (number 16), and a weather alert option that immediately switches the radio to the appropriate weather channel when a storm warning comes through. Users will also dig the Dual Watch and Tri-Watch functions. The former lets you communicate on a channel of your choice while also keeping an eye on emergency channel 16, while the latter monitors two channels--channel 16 and another channel--while receiving a third channel. The pair of "watch" modes guarantee that you won't miss an important emergency call from a distressed boater while your attention is otherwise engaged.
As with other high-quality fixed-mount VHF radios, the IC-M504 comes with built-in Class D Digital Selective Calling (DSC), which lets you constantly monitor channel 70 or send a formatted distress message in an emergency. DSC activates an instantaneous, continuous "mayday" signal that identifies your vessel and time stamps the message. And when connected to a NMEA-enabled GPS receiver, your radio can easily send the position data of your boat or determine another vessel's location and then display it your LCD screen or the GPS itself. The polling function even checks whether a specific ship is in your communication range.
And by adding the optional CommandMic III microphone (sold separately), users can control all available functions of the IC-M504 from a remote location, such as from the deck or the fly bridge. The CommandMic III--which includes a multifunction jog dial for quick and easy access to the settings--works from up to 60 feet away, and handles such functions as distress calls, DSC calls, squelch adjustments, foghorn signals, and more. It even doubles as an intercom, making onboard communication easier than ever.
Other details include a PA function (when connected to a hailer horn or external speaker), an RX speaker function, four foghorn patterns, instant access to channels 16 and 9, compatibility with the UT-112 voice scrambler (sold separately) for communication privacy, and a sleek black housing. The IC-M504 measures 6.5 by 4.34 by 4.84 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a three-year warranty.

"Yaesu YS-60" "handic 940" "RM Italy KL-203"

The Yeasu SWR/Power meter has served 20+ years, nice with AVG/PEP power settings. Pretty accurate (+-5%) power measuring.

handic 940 is a 40 channel CB-radio mostly used for tuning experiments of amplifiers/antennas.

KL203 is a MOSFET amplifier that with low drive (1-4W), external low-pass filtering and impedance help (on its input) with the YS-60 puts out a pretty decent ~50W.

Those CB amplifiers are terrible noise boxes (harmonics, splatter) without special treatment and external filtering. What you pay for is what you get :)

CB Radio Days

CB Radio Days

This was my setup. It was a big craze in about 1980 or so. My longest non-stop conversation was 12 hours. Many of my best friends today were met either directly or indirectly through CB radio, as I went to a school outside the area where I lived. So this was one way of meeting people in a 5km radius.
